The Summer Is Here. Prepare Your Car !!!

The summer calendar will come in a while, but only when outside temperatures become unbearable in a city full of concrete and traffic, only then, you realize how much you need a getaway to the sea or to the mountains. To escape the oppressiveness of an urban conglomerate, set your route and ride on, but only after you have prepared the car for the weekend getaway.

Before you travel, you must make sure that you have all the documents (registration, insurance, vignette) and your identity card (yours and the other passengers), driving license, and green card, if you will spend the weekend in other countries.
Check if you have inflated tires to the proper pressure! The correct pressure is specified on the door frame near the fuel tank or in the car manual. Checking tires is done every time before going on a long trip, or on average, once a month.

The oil level should be checked too! This operation is performed using a simple dipstick. If the oil level is far below the MAX written on the dipstick, then you have to fill with oil. To obtain a result closer to reality, the engine must be cold.

Water from the expansion vessel must be checked easily, according to MIN-MAX gradations. If applicable, add softened water. Then check if all headlights and taillights work.

Do not go on the road without a spare tire! Even if the distance that you’re going to go is not so great, do not give up the spare tire, to make room for luggage!!. Also, you should not miss the jack, the warning triangle, a nd the vest. They will help you change the wheel in maximum security conditions. It would not hurt to write down the telephone numbers of some roadside assistance companies.

Whether it’s two days or a whole week, on vacation we tend to be distracted, to treat some dangerous situations otherwise. To meet any trouble, the car should not be your first aid kit. You never know when you will give first aid to strangers or to yourself.

If you’re stuck on a roadside at night, or sleep in the tent, it would not hurt to have 2-3 flashlights plus 2-3 thick blankets to face the cold installed on the mountains.

Before you hit the road,o you need to know in detail the route. Inform yourself on any road maintenance work, find out the shortcuts, and how practicable they are. If you browse for the first time a particular route, you should equip your vehicle with a GPS and have a map of the area’s attractions.

Special dedication for ladies: let the wardrobe at home! Do not charge the car unnecessarily with all kinds of clothes, shoes, and accessories for a simple city break. Because it is summer and the sun’s rays are harmful, make sure you have lotions and creams with a high protection factor, wear sunglasses, and cover your head with hats, caps, or scarves.

The hydration is very important. Take with you at least 2 liters of mineral water for the road, some fruit, and some sandwiches.
